SMARTDECK Back to product
[ INSTALLATION & SETUP ]

From receipt to
a working deck.

Follow this once to install SmartDeck, activate the PC, put it on your tablet, and build a first workspace that is ready to use.

01

Recover your installer and license key

Start from the order access attached to your completed purchase.

Open your Dodo Payments receipt email or the Customer Portal. Download the SmartDeck Windows installer and copy the license key from the same order.

Keep the receipt. It is your backup route for downloading SmartDeck again, finding the key, and managing the order later.

02

Install the Windows app

Use the installer from your order access—not a file shared elsewhere.

Exit any older SmartDeck version, open the downloaded installer, and complete the per-user installation. SmartDeck supports Windows 10 and 11 on 64-bit PCs.

Early-access installer notice

The current installer is intentionally unsigned. Windows may show “Unknown Publisher,” and Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may appear. Confirm that the file came from your Dodo Payments order before choosing to continue. Never turn off Windows Security globally.

03

Activate this PC

Your personal license can be active on 1 Windows PC at a time.

On first launch, copy the full key from your receipt. Select Paste key, then Activate SmartDeck. An internet connection is required for the first activation.

SmartDeck stores the key using Windows secure storage. If you later move to another PC, open Settings → License and choose Deactivate this PC before activating the new one.

04

Make the tablet a Windows display

SmartDeck uses a screen Windows already recognizes; it does not mirror the tablet by itself.

Connect the tablet with your preferred second-display software or a wired display connection. SpaceDesk and SuperDisplay are common options, but they are separate products and are not included with SmartDeck.

In Windows Settings → System → Display, confirm that the tablet appears, choose Extend these displays, and arrange it on the same side as it sits on your desk. Landscape orientation works best for the starter layouts.

05

Place SmartDeck on the tablet

Move the app once; SmartDeck remembers the window position and size.

Drag the SmartDeck window onto the tablet display. Open the gear button, go to General → Window & Dashboard Mode, and enable Dashboard Mode (Fullscreen).

Press F11 whenever you need to leave fullscreen. You can also enable Launch on System Startup under General after the display arrangement is working reliably.

06

Choose a useful starting point

Start with a real workspace, then make it yours.

The first-run screen offers starter layouts for development, study, streaming, music, focused productivity, and a general showcase. Choose the closest fit; every page, tile, color, and behavior can be changed later.

To add a control, enter edit mode and use Add Tile. Start with an action or preset, test it, then add live widgets and workflows as the layout earns its place.

[ NEXT 20 MINUTES ]

Build the smallest deck
you will actually use.

  1. 01
    One launch tile

Add the app you open most often.

  2. 02
    One live widget

Choose a signal worth seeing at a glance.

  3. 03
    One repeatable workflow

Turn a routine into one deliberate control.

  4. 04
    One app rule

In Settings → Automation, map a page to an app when the layout is ready.

[ TROUBLESHOOTING ]

Fix the setup,
not the whole system.

Most first-run problems come from the Windows display arrangement, fullscreen placement, or an incomplete license-key copy.

01

The tablet does not appear in Windows

Reconnect the display app or cable first. Do not open SmartDeck until Windows Settings shows two displays and the tablet is set to Extend, not Duplicate.

02

SmartDeck opens on the wrong screen

Press F11 to leave Dashboard Mode, drag the window to the tablet, size it once, and re-enable Dashboard Mode. SmartDeck remembers the last window position.

03

Text or tiles are too large

Check the tablet display’s Scale and Display resolution in Windows Settings. Use its recommended resolution, then try 100% or 125% scale before rebuilding the layout.

04

The license will not activate

Confirm the PC is online, copy the complete key without extra spaces, and verify that the license is not still active on another PC. Use Retry verification after correcting the issue.

[ UPDATES & BACKUPS ]

Update in place.

SmartDeck does not update automatically. Download a newer installer through your original order access, exit SmartDeck, and run the installer over the existing installation. Do not uninstall first. Before a major change, use Settings → Backup & restore → Export Configuration.
